This Career Day, I interned at my old school: Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic School. Here, I would be interning my old eighth grade history and homeroom teacher.
Career day went brilliantly. There is no way I can simply say that better. I was initially a but nervous, but my excitement and outstanding confidence vastly was larger than any concern. I learned a lot more about what goes on behind the scenes of any teaching job: i have seen a lot about teaching from a student's point of view, but i admittedly have little to no experience from the teaching side.
Of course, this career interested me just as much as I thought it would. Teaching students about history, something I am very passionate about, was something I found very interesting and fulfilling. However, my least favorite part of the day had to have been grading. At times, I felt horrible as I failed a student who answered nothing correct on a quiz I was grading. At the same time, the favorite part of the day had to have been the interactions with students during history time. I felt like the vast amounts of historical trivia which I usually do not use finally had a purpose: to teach others.
